The Star Spangled Banner was sung in Spanish, and the Pleadge was pleadged in Spanish when my mother was a school girl in Puerto Rico over 50 years ago. It is nothing new. There is nothing particularly American about the English language, or the Spanish language for that matter. But it is easy to see why so many have trouble with it right now: For them patriotism is just another bigotry, and it is being pointed at Mexico. I guess this means that they will only be able to go after the undocumented French-Canadians...

I can't believe that some of the artist form PR have done this when they are well received in this country. Right at this moment I feel embarrased to be Boricua.

Would mexicans like their national anthem in English? I think not!
Here is one possible version, if you know the music:

Mexican Anthem in English

All these Mexicans crossing the border
‘cause their country will give them no jobs.
Rio Grande or Tijuana will do it,
On their way to Chicago or L.A.
Rio Grande or Tijuana will do it,
On their way to Chicago or L.A.

Choir

Viva Mexico why do I shout,
When I had to come here to earn pesos
Shouldn’t I sing the US anthem in English?
If I badly do want to stay here.
Shouldn’t I sing the US anthem in English?
If I badly do want to stay here.

by Anonymous.
Yes, I came from Mexico and worked very hard to be part of this wonderful country. I am now an American .
