Attorney General Gonzales Resigns

UPDATE: Gonzales announces that he will leave on September 17, 2007.

Paul Clement to be the acting Attorney General until a new candidate is confirmed in the Senate.

Just reported by Fox News Monday morning: Alberto Gonzales has resigned as Attorney General.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has resigned, the New York Times reported on Monday, citing a senior administration official.

The official said an official announcement would be made later in the day.

There is a 10:30 am news conference scheduled for Monday at the Western Whitehouse.

It is also reported that Paul Clement, the Solicitor General might be the temporary AG.
