Wow… Hillary might as well have had a video of her reaching in other people’s pockets to get their money. Who ever thought up that one should be fired. C’mon folks… this is the big leagues.
Of course Fred Thompson’s was the best only because for a few seconds we got away from politicking and made room for a Christmas message. Thanks Fred!

Merry Christmas and God bless you!

I liked Huckabee becaue it was not focused on convincing anyoneabout anything. I disliked both Hillary and John’s because they were so political, and negative.
24 Dec 07 at 11:19 am
Fred’s message provides the opportunity to reflect on the profound sacrifice our armed forces make on our behalf. It is serious, yet touching and hopeful. Hopeful in the sense that their efforts to protect us should be above the politics that draws these candidates.
Merry Christmas.

By far Fred Thompson had the best message. He supports our troops and will strengthen our military back to where it was in Regan’s highly successful administration. Hillary Clinton had the worst message. She could no more give away any of her “little gifts” than the man in the moon.
24 Dec 07 at 11:49 am
Fred’s was pure class as I would have expected. It was a glimpse into what kind of administration he would have. Hillary’s was the worst with Huck close second. Hillary’s was certainly a glimpse into what her administration would be like. UGH!! It would be no more Christmases for the taxpayer.
24 Dec 07 at 12:20 pm
Wow, it was great to see all the ads together. Hillary’s really shows how much of OUR money she is willing to give away to become president. She is truly frightening. Sure Fred is my choice for president, but even the objective observer has to agree, that “ad” is outstanding and truly honors our soldiers at this time of year.
24 Dec 07 at 12:57 pm
John McCain had the best - and the most authentic - Christmas message. No one else even came close. The worst - Huckabee or Guilianni.
24 Dec 07 at 1:03 pm
Thank you Fred for remembering others. I am tired of seeing the politicians faces and hearing messages. This holiday is for remembering the real people who make America strong!
24 Dec 07 at 2:02 pm
Best is Fred Thompson because, as always, he has the finest instincts, most class, and just the best heart of any candidate. He never disappoints us. The worst is Huckabee, because he uses his faith to pander to those of us who are Christians.
24 Dec 07 at 3:27 pm
OH MY GOD!!! Does Hillary Clinton even understand the meaning of “A Christmas Greeting”?? Hey, here’s a gift that will cost us billions! Hey, here’s another one!! Leave it to her to give the gifts that keep on taking and taking.
Fred Thompson. Thank you sir, for remembering those in harm’s way. God Bless.
24 Dec 07 at 4:40 pm
Hmmm… I think I should say something for each.
Barack Obama:
A little too wordy, and his attempt to cover all bases was a bit too obvious. Still, compares favorably to the ads of all the other candidates on his side of the political spectrum.
Rudy Giuliani:
The attempt at humor’s a bit lame, but at least he’s not taking himself too seriously here.
John Edwards:
Oh man, who farted!? If you’re looking for a guy who’s taking himself too seriously, this is it. He’d have done better if he’d not been so obviously in love with the sound of his own voice. (Nobody else is in love with it.)
Hillary Clinton:
I smell desperation. Mrs. Clinton was evidently trying to avoid Edwards’ and Obama’s mistakes by keeping the yackety-yack to a minimum, but it’s not for nothing that this blatant attempt at bribery gets my vote for being the worst ad on here–and the vote of a great many others. Thanks, but no thanks for the “gifts” Hillary.
Fred Thompson:
It’s no accident either that Thompson’s ad got my vote and many others for being the best one here. Fred shows us how it’s done with the lightly-played but sincere piano tune, the wordless pictures, and the briefest of endorsements at the end. No speeches, no face time, no problem; it’s pure gold.
Mike Huckabee:
Nothing particularly wrong with it; it’s just awfully generic. The much-berated “floating cross” is indeed nothing more than an out-of-focus bunch of shelves, as one can see from the likewise blurry Christmas ornaments stacked up on them, and the message is something you might hear from just about any fellow church-goer at Christmas. Nothing in this ad really stands out, though.
John McCain:
Old war stories are kind of hit-and-miss here. It doesn’t exactly sound like pandering for McCain to relate a personal tale for Christmas, but he does come off sounding like he ought to be out signing autographs on a book tour instead of on the campaign trail.
Ron Paul:
Not as dreadful as I’d feared it might be, though it rather strongly resembles the ads of Obama and Huckabee. At least Ron Paul doesn’t seem as much in love with the sound of his own voice here as he always seems to be when he’s on the air with a bunch of groupies. Still, he sounds like he thinks we ought to be grateful he’s taking time off from his campaign just to greet us. Well, thanks, Paul… for, you know, taking time off.
24 Dec 07 at 5:49 pm
Fred’s ad is touching & shows me that he realizes what the most important things are. The next best ad was Obama’s, then McCain’s.
Hilary’s ad was a total disaster. After I saw it, I just asked myself if she’s a real person or a puppet?
24 Dec 07 at 5:58 pm
John McCain’s related a very moving personal incident which I am sure is exactly what comes to his mind when he thinks of Christmas. Straightforward, genuine, heartfelt, and moving. I think it reveals something about the man. It’s my vote for best.
Hillary’s is hands down my vote for worst. Dick Morris commented on O’Reilly that Hillary’s commercial actually shows just how she regards these issues - acronyms and political chips rather than any particular passion for the issues.
24 Dec 07 at 6:08 pm
Huckabee’s was definetly the worst. He brought his religion into it too much and he spoke about how everyone should be celebrating the birth of Christ. I think the candidates should not only say merry christmas, but also happy holidays because there are people who are not christian, for example, myself.
24 Dec 07 at 6:08 pm
While I don’t support Huckabee I thought it was a masterful ad. It was warm, friendly even with a religious connotation which in all fairness is an accurate representation of who he is. I though every other was positive and good-natured as well except for Hillary’s. She was the only one to address policy not friends and family. How does this reflect on the likeability tour and the humanness that now apparently matters to her if we see that policy trumps friends and family for her during XMAS?????
24 Dec 07 at 6:53 pm
The worst ad by far was Hillary. The obscene pandering was a major bummer. I guess she is warning us that she will be coming after our paychecks when she is president. Yikes!
Edwards was a close second. He will be raising taxes as well. Message received.
Obama had a decent ad. Seemed family and season oriented. No way I would vore for him but nice guy and family.
Huck seemes to be running for Pastor-in-Chief. Dude, this is not a church. We need a strong leader for our country. It is a difficult, complicated and dangerous world out there. This is not a postion suitable for a neophyte. We need a leader to take on those dangers is a serious way. Forgiveness beliongs to God, not the POTUS.
McCain - touching. Yes he is a hero. Sucks on taxes and immigration though and that is a deal killer.
Rudy should fire whoever thought this up and put it together. Sucked.
Romney - where are ya, Mitt?
Fred Thompson had the ONLY add worthy of a Commander-in-Chief. A true leader who knows what is important. The ONLY candidate to honor our troops in harm’s way right now and remind us all. Others may “look” presidential. Fred Thompson “is” presidential.
24 Dec 07 at 7:31 pm
Time after time Thompson demonstrates he understands, that he “gets it”.
24 Dec 07 at 8:53 pm
Thompson’s add is just like his personality. Not flashy or self centered, but genuine and sincere.

24 Dec 07 at 10:14 pm
Fred Thompson’s is by far the best ad, but guess who’s get the most air time by the MSM liberal media? Huck’s and Hillary’s. Go figure. Has a cable talk TV show even shown Fred’s or McCain’s?
24 Dec 07 at 11:50 pm
Fred’s was by far the most touching and gives one the sense of what Christmas is really all about. Someone watching over America is smiling down with deep affection for this very unselfish message that was given to our servicemen and women all over the world who are keeping us all safe each and every day and night. God Bless them all and Thank You Fred for bringing it to our attention in this special way!
25 Dec 07 at 12:09 am
Thanks for putting them all together, SOS.
I’d been planning on doing this, but stuff got in the way.
Allowing the vote on best and worst was a great touch.
Good job.
25 Dec 07 at 12:20 am
Fred, hands down, is the most thought-provoking and tells a great deal about Fred’s character and heart. Unselfish and meaningful, but that’s what you get from Fred…consistently a rung or two above them all.
25 Dec 07 at 12:47 am
FRED THOMPSON! Grab the tissue and let it roll! Did not know it was FRED’s utill the last moment! God Bless our brave yound soldiers!
Merry Christmas to you and yours tonight! Those of you in Iowa should take a second look at FRED…he is worth the time. FRED08.com

Typical Hillary…”It’s all about ME”
“Where did ‘I’ put pre-K?”
Pompous, arrogant, superficial, phony, pandering, narcissistic, Clintonesque, lying witch.
God save us.
25 Dec 07 at 11:35 am
Clearly Huckabee has the most effective (not my candidate, by the way). It comes across very real and smooth at the same time. Floating bookshelf (cross?) has been shown multiple times to greatly increase its effectiveness. Political experts see it as a home run in Iowa. McCain, Obama and Thompson have very good ones with Ron Paul getting honorable mention. Rudy and Edwards, though not great, neither helped or hurt themselves. Hillary’s is frankly awful. Felt political and without sincerity.
25 Dec 07 at 12:13 pm
Fred Thompson will…..
Protect our Borders
Kill the terrorists
and Punch the Hippies !!!
Merry Christmas to our troops all over the World !!
25 Dec 07 at 1:05 pm
Fred Thompson, the only one not showing his own face as the center of attention, but others. Putting others first that is what Fred is all about. Choosing the troops that shows a genuine leader of the troops. I think if anyone else had even thought of those wonderful guys serving, they would have had their on picture in there with every soldier. Not Fred. Support the real leader folks! Fred for President!
26 Dec 07 at 12:35 pm
You’ve heard of the proverbial “final nail in the coffin”? That ad by Clinton was the final nail in her candidacy. It was abhorrent. Any attempt at looking human fails with her, every time.
Like others, I was moved by Fred Thompson’s simple, uncluttered, and direct message of support for our troops and their families during the holidays.
26 Dec 07 at 4:09 pm
FRED THOMPSON is the best person to lead this country. He is a true conservative and has been his entire life. All one has to do is check his record to see this.
His Christmas video just shows his class and respect for our armed forces.
During my time in the Army as an Intelligence Analyst, I served under both Presidents Carter and Reagan (as my commanders in chief). Without argument, President Reagan was the best commander-in-chief a military person could ever have served under. Fred Thompson possesses the same qualities and vision as President Reagan in that he is strong on national defense and sees a dire need to secure our borders and control immigration.
I can think of no better person to lead this country and fix the problems we have. He is the only candidate from either party who has specific and detailed plans on border security and immigration reform; revitalization of America’s armed forces; saving and protecting Social Security; and tax relief and economic growth. These are detailed on his Web site at http://www.fred08.com . I challenge you to find any other candidate who has laid out specific plans to fix anything.
Fred Thompson has published his first principles, some of which are mentioned above. In addition to those, he strongly believes in individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, federalism, traditional American values, the rule of law and is a strong proponent of the Second Amendment — all concepts established during the birth of our country and documented in our Constitution.
Again, try to find any candidate who has laid out their plans to “fix” this country. You will find they all speak in vague and abstract terms on their plans.
For those who have heard Fred Thompson speak, you will usually hear him say that the Fred Thompson you see today is the same Fred Thompson you saw yesterday and is the same Fred Thompson you will see tomorrow. He stands by his principles and values and doesn’t shift his positions based on polls or public opinion; in other words, he doesn’t say what the voters want to hear just to get elected, but remains steadfast on his views and convictions.
During his time in the Senate he focused on three areas: to lower taxes, strengthen national security and expose waste in the federal government. Fred Thompson has foreign policy experience, having served as member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Senate Intelligence committees.
As chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, he opened the investigation in 1997 on the Chinese government’s attempt to influence American policies and elections, and this investigation identified connections with the Clinton administration (documented in the committee’s report).
As a member of the Finance Committee, he worked tirelessly to enact three major tax-cut bills. Fred Thompson remains steadfast and even though a person may not agree with all his views and he understands some may disagree with him, you can count on him to be consistent and unwavering.
Don’t be fooled by his laid back approach and what critics call his “laziness.” As a former assistant U.S. attorney, he earned a reputation as a tough prosecutor and he possesses the toughness this country needs in order to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s issues.
I ask that you take a hard look at what this country needs, then take a hard look at all the other candidates’ views, policies, their records and their track record on consistency. Fred Thompson possesses integrity, loyalty, commitment, energy and decisiveness, all traits of an effective leader, and will emerge as the best person to take this country boldly forward.
Please help Fred win in Iowa:
