Florida Governor Crist Flips Endorsement To McCain After Promising Support To Giuliani
Can Charlie Crist be trusted? As early as last fall Governor Crist was planning to endorse Rudy Giuliani until it appeared that Rudy’s Campaign was losing ground to McCain. Did McCain promise a position as running mate on the Republican Ticket in 2008? Only Charlie and McCain their insiders know for sure.
Charlie Crist is on the agenda for the Orange County Lincoln Day Dinner, just below Giuliani as the guest of honor. But an endorsement is not on the menu.
Crist did not appear at the dinner — he changed his plans several days ago, sources said — but his presence was certainly felt. Giuliani aides were visibly upset Saturday at the news that the popular Florida governor would be backing McCain.
Giuliani campaign sources said Crist pledged his endorsement to Giuliani in the early fall, when McCain’s campaign appeared dead and Giuliani was leading the state by double digits. But at the time, McCain supporters leaned on Crist to hold back and wait until after the New Hampshire primary. McCain had campaigned for Crist when he was seeking the Republican nomination for governor, and had hoped Crist would return the favor.
…
My guess is that Crist is nothing more than a political Whore.
He’s in good company with McCain.
Michelle has no admiration for Charlie either.

Why would a smart political person support a person that will not get a majority of the Florida Republican party votes? This life long Republican will turn on Christ and McCain. Charlie pack your bags!

It is clear that politics has not changed.Crist promising an endorsement for one candidate (Gulliani) and then flipping to (McCain) shows that he nor McCain can be trusted to keep their word.”That’s politics as usual, so much for McCain “talking straight” as he said in Iowa,New Hampshire, etc. As a conservative I can not vote for McCain, he is anything but faithful to his party. In fairness, I appreciate his attempt to rein in spending in Washington, where our conservative Republicans failed us, but beyond that, McCain is not a true Republican. Again, we thank him (McCain) for his service to our nation and we are proud of him for that.

‘Planning’ does not mean a promise was made, its a leaning. Many people have leaned toward different candidates in this race before finally selecting one, many waiting until they were in the voting booth to do it.
The disdain for honorable individuals with convictions like Crist and McCain is sad to see.

Vilsak supported Clinton in Iowa and she lost - so hopefully McCain will lose too!

No honor amongst thieves? Shocking! Still it is disappointing to learn that Crist has no integrity or personal honor but he does honor expediency. That just makes him another hack pol.

Governor Crist has decided to back an heroic American winner instead of a psychopathic loser.
Good move, Charlie.

After working for the Romney campaign calling into Florida Saturday, the impression I got was that Mitt was the favored candidate. And after watching the sordid smear tactics that McCain has resorted to, it wouldn’t surprise me if McCain’s chances are slipping away in Florida. Serves him right. He’s not to be trusted, and certainly not the straight talking candidate he claims to be. Give me Romney over McCain anyday!
Got Mitt?

I don’t claim to know any of the other candidates as well, but I have followed McCain’s career in the Senate and it is not “steller”.I am n ot specially excited about our choices for President this year because our candidates are not “yet” moving me, but one thing I do know, as a conservative, I can’t vote for McCain and that leaves me to watch, listen and then decide who I will support who is best to lead us in the White House on a more conservative agenda and not “indebted” to or “flanked” with Democrats. It’s okay to be bipartisan, it’s different to fight your own party on matters that are important to Americans, as are “tax cuts”.
