We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.
So if anyone can make one of Obama’s Town Hall meetings (if he ever has one) they could ask the Messiah about that remark. Bet that he skirts the issue or just flip flops.

Mr. Obama does not seem to know what he’s talking about at times. This is one of these times. Perhaps he does not know what the word “army” means or entails.

Is he suggesting a political enforcement arm. What his scarily brings to fore if my mind si images of Brownshirts or a Presidential Praetorian Guard.
I cannot beleive that I am witnessing this horror show going on before my eyes. I knew there aws a reason I was uncomfortable when they substituted History with Social Studies in our schools. Our fool youth do not recognize the danger they are buying into.
By any means necessary this man must be stopped!

While I do not like the man, will not vote for him, and this is not a defense of him, but what he means is basically a US “soft-power” force that the US had basically during the Cold War. This goes beyond diplomacy and diplomats. As a former DoD employee, talk of this within the community was positive and was actively being sought.
Unfortunately, UNFORTUNATELY, this is one point where I have to agree with the man. Does that make him worthy to lead? Absolutely not.

Well this outfit can become the global warming police. Speaking out against AGW? They can come and warn you. Haven’t paid your carbon taxes or cap and trade fees? They can collect. Work for an oil company? They can come and arrest you.

How is this a bad thing? Or a gaffe? This would be a wonderful development for US foreign policy, and would undoubtedly help the war on terror.
Just because it was proposed by Obama does not mean it’s a bad thing - McCain needs to co-opt this for his own.

Congress already has enough challenges with managing a standing Army. What I see is another mouth at the table for desperately needed defense funds. Has anyone thought about Rules of Engagement? The enemy will be frothing at the mouth at the prospects of a bunch of untrained civilians taking up arms on their soil.

I was shocked when I heard this. All I could think of was an Obama SS Corp. OMG! Based on online comments, so many of his supporters are crazy and threaten violence if anyone disgrees with their messiah. Obama must be stopped. He is a narcissistic, lunatic. America will suffer big time if he is POTUS.

Read what Obama said, instead of listening to the cutely-edited “Foreign Policy for Dummies” version on this site:

we already have such a force..it`s called the armed citizens of America..the armed citizens of America represents the 3r d largest army in the world, right behind Russia & China..what is Obama thinking? why doesnt he just issue NRA members legal authority to act in the nations behalf..problem solved..that`s why the 2nd was put there.. sounds like he wants to create yet another big govt. entity & probably give it 2nd amendment rights & take it away from everybody else. what a way to do away with our 2nd amendment..this airhead will screw everything up.

Take a look at the whole picture. A democrat forced colapsed of our economic system, a focus now on big Gov’t to take care of everyone, a civilian force to retireve personal weapons and squash free speech, Acorn - a tool to dismantle our election system, almost complete control of the media, except for FOX and will eventually do away with talk radio, remember, they tried to pass legislation before but with the democrats in full control of all three gov’t braches, watchout.

they change the context of everything. obama is not talking about his own police force that can hunt down opposition with no questions asked(like Bush and his Patriot Act).
He’s CLEARLY talking about the Peace Corps…

Dear Civilians, ‘We know that the current state of affairs in
our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the
military. For those of you who can’t join, you can still lend a hand.
Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:
1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat)
during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass.
2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American
Flag in protest - kick their ass.
3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the
highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing
otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans
fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten
them
on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great.
Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass.
4. (GUYS) If y ou were never in the military, DO NOT pretend
that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues,
telling others that you used to be ‘Special Forces,’ and collecting GI
Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old.
Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.
5. Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask
them, ‘Do you fly a jet?’ Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such
ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children are exempt).
6. If you witness someone calling the US Coast Guard
‘non-military’, inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.
7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) passes by during a
parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand
over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky
enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do either of those
could earn you a severe ass-kicking.
8. Don’t try to discuss politics with a military member or a
veteran. We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our
party affiliation. Our Chain of Command is to include our
Commander-In-Chief (CinC). The President (for those who didn’t know) is
our CinC regardless of political party. We have no inside track on what
happens inside those big important buildings where all those
representatives meet. All we know is that when those civilian
representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military
to
go straighten it out. If you keep asking us the same stupid questions
repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked!
9. ‘Your mama wears combat boots’ never made sense to me - stop
saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore
could kick your ass!
10. bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying
‘Let’s go kill those Commies!’ And stop asking us where he is! Crystal
balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me - if you
see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I
can go kick their ass!
11. ‘Flyboy’ (Air Force), ‘Jarhead’ (Marines), ‘Grunt’ (Army),
‘Squid’ (Navy), ‘Puddle Jumpers’ (Coast Guard), etc., are terms of
endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member
or
vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them could get
your ass kicked.
12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of
the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving
and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please
remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors,
marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their
families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every
day. Without them, our country would get it’s ass kicked.’
