Obama said sometimes police arrest the wrong person, confusing ‘‘Muhammad the terrorist’’ with ‘‘Muhammad the cab driver’’ or ‘‘Barack the bomb-thrower’’ with ‘‘Barack, the guy running for president.’’
Of course it depends on what kind of bomb he is throwing.

I don’t know what Obama thought he was referring to with his lipstick quip, but I know what his listeners understood, and he had to know as well. Since he didn’t correct them, he is stuck with the malevolent interpretation.
