Bailout Vote Failure Blamed On ‘Bela’ Pelosi Speech

Nancy ‘Bela’ Pelosi squelched the survival of the 700 Billion Dollar bailout. Pelosi’s speech before the vote blamed the Bush Administration and Republicans in general for the failure.

Here is what the moron said:

PELOSI:

When was the last time anyone ever asked you for $700 billion?

It’s a staggering figure and many questions have arisen from that request. And we have been hearing a very informed debate on all sides of this issue here today. I’m proud of the debate.

$700 billion. A staggering number, but only a part of the cost of the failed Bush economic policies to our country. Policies that were built on budget recklessness when Pres. Bush took office, he inherited Pres. Clinton’s surpluses - four years in a row budget surpluses on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. And with his reckless economic policies, within two years, he had turned it around. And now 8 years later, the foundation of that fiscal irresponsibility, combined with an “anything goes” economic policy, has taken us to where we are today.

They claim to be free-market advocates, when it’s really an anything goes mentality. No regulation, no supervision, no discipline. And if you fail, you will have a golden parachute and the taxpayer will bail you out.

Those days are over. The party is over in that respect.

Democrats believe in a free market. We know that it can create jobs, it can create wealth, many good things in our economy. But in this case, in this unbridled form, as encouraged and supported by the Republicans — some Republicans, not all — it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos. And it is that chaos that the Secretary of the Treasury and the Chairman of the Fed came to see us, just about a week and a half ago. It seems like an eternity, doesn’t it? So much has happened. The news was so bad. They described a very dismal situation.

Speaker Pelosi with a sharp statement against Bush! Everything is very consistent and clear! Under the question all the promises Bush! She called the president a criminal, I SHOCKED!!!
Watch full video version here: http://tubedirect.net/index.php?q=Pelosi-statement-about-Bush
    This must see everyone !

  2. steevesna Says:

Rep. Pelosi doesn’t sound very convincing as a advocate of a bi-partisan solution to this mess. No one will forget what she said. No one should.

  3. semby Says:

The nerve of this wicked witch from the west blaming the Bush Administration. Pelosi is a very evil person. No one in this country makes me angrier than her. Not only is she an idiot but she is a pathological delusional liar. Vote Republican and Vote Her Out!

  4. Katie Says:

LOL!! Let me get this straight — Bush, Boehner, and McCain had convinced these GOP congresscritters to vote FOR it, but Nancy Pelosi was mean to them so they voted AGAINST IT! Is that right??

Or is because they wanted to get REELECTED?

Why can’t the Republicans ever take responsibility for anything. If their votes on an important issue were decided by their own temper tantrum because The Bad Lady Said Mean Things, then they are not fit for office.

  5. Katie Says:

Hey NO DEAL can McCain “suspend his campaign” to “solve the problem” again? That worked so good the last time, except you’d have to be seriously STUCK to even think he suspended it the first time.

  6. psygone Says:

Hey folks, this isn’t so bad! Please! Republican stock brokers….please don’t jump out of windows making a mess below

Obama is up 61 on Intrade Market and, trending higher

Polls are looking excellent - the US electorate is placing the blame squarely of the those in charge for the past 7 1/2 years.

For Obama, there could be no better result for several reasons:

    1) Bush can’t pin this on him — it all happened on Bush’s watch.

    2) McCain can’t say anything either because he had way more to do with killing it than Obama.

    3) Bush will come begging back to the table (to salvage the tattered rags of his “legacy”), giving Obama anything he wants: “Gee how ’bout $3 Billion for A.C.O.R.N. ”

    4) Any bill that ultimately passes will be less of a liability for the Obama administration than this monster was.

    5) It will take at least three more weeks to get a bill passed, which reduces the amount of time the Republicans have to raid the treasury before leaving office.

    6) Don’t be surprised if the final bill dials this down to $100B — and the Dow Jones drops another 4000 points.

In the meantime, we’ll see that life does go on after an adjustment in the stock market.

Babies are born, life begins anew, the leaves begin to fall, the air becomes crisp with a hint of winter, the holidays will approach and Obama-Biden_08 will

    “……..things are gonna get brighter”

  7. psygone Says:

    ……Obama-Biden_08 will…..win by a historic landslide.

    ———————–
btw — get that $100 million earmark for A.C.O.R.N. back in the bill and the Dems might (that is if Paulson gets back on his knees and begs a little more), just might pass Bush’s Wall Street derivatives bailout by the end of October — without the Republicans,

… and maybe even save some of Bush’s pride and a tiny portion of the economy in time for the elections.

  8. psygone Says:

    Barney Frank was right.

If their feelings were hurt by Nancy P’s comments and they decided not to vote for the bill because of it…well that is most juvenile thing than anyone can do.

….results…a $1.2 trillion loss in the market today, the lowest DOW in history, credit markets are frozen, and financial markets are in peril.

There’s a lot of frustration around the world at this mess, not to mention they made Bush and McCain look silly for not supporting them.

[.. Bailout Vote Failure Blamed On ‘Bela’ Pelosi Speech ..]

What’s absolutely amazing is….here we are, the worlds greatest military superpower — to whom rogue nations, terrorists and dictators tremble….who in 2003 Congress stood, thumped their chests and yelled “WMDs! WMDs! SEND THE MARINES! GET SADDAM!”

…and now we have a skinny little grandmama from San Francisco who made a little speech…. and made “grown” Republican men whine, cry, stomp their feet….and hurt their po po feelings……

  9. Kevyn Says:

Let’s not forget one thing. Democrats are the majority in the House. This vote failed by twenty-three votes. Ninety-five Democrats voted no. Five Democrat committee chairmen voted no. Despite the asinine excuse that Republicans supposedely voted no due to the Pelosi yeast infected tirade; it boils down to her failed leadership ability as Speaker of the House.

  10. Bob Says:

So, let me get this straight…

this didn’t pass because the Republicans only provided 66 votes…

P.S. - these people voted against it, too…

Democratic committee chairmen (e.g., Democratic party leadership)

    Conyers, MI - Judiciary
Delahunt, MA - Select Cmte for Voting Irregularities
    Filner, CA - Veterans’ Affairs
Holden, PA - Conservation, Credit Energy and Research
Scott, GA - Standards of Official Conduct
    Thompson, MS - Homeland Security

    California (Nancy Pelosi’s delegation):

    Baca
    Becerra
    Filner
    Lee
    Napolitano
    Roybal-Allard
    Sanchez, Linda
    Sanchez, Loretta
    Schiff
    Sherman
    Solis
    Stark
    Thompson
    Watson
    Woolsey

The measure failed by 12 votes. There are 21 people listed above.

  11. David Says:

    Yes, amazing.
How does the minority party defeat anything on an up-down vote? The bill needed 218 to pass, there’s 235 DemocRats… Does anyone need to complete the rest of the equation for you? I’m sorry, Katie, Psygone, I know you’re just obeying the MCPs orders to get in everyone’s faces, but there’s no way to euphemize this: You’re just stupid.

  12. Katie Says:

Again, the Responsibility-Challenged GOP — do you think BUSH has ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT FAILING?

Please he has no credibility left whatsoever, of course, to the geniuses who put him in office, NOTHING is ever his fault. The GOP voted down his bailout 2 to 1? It’s the Dems fault for not voting for it 100%!

    That is SO stuck.

  13. Katie Says:

WHOA! Hey stuckons!!! On Countdown they just showed a clip of McLame TAKING CREDIT FOR PASSING THE BILL TODAY! WHAT AN ASSCLOWN!

Hey stuckas — this cost him the election….BELIEVE IT!

OMG AND ROMNEY ON NBC TODAY SAYING WE WOULD NEVER HAD GOTTEN IT PASSED WITHOUT MCSAME!

Oh my….counting their McChickens before they were McHatched!

  14. Bob Says:

So, what would you have had President Bush do other than what he did? Even if he had come out every day for the last month to speak about this, you would have said - “we don’t believe him, he has no credibility, yada yada yada…”

You can’t have it both ways. The majority party in Congress has pretty much ignored President Bush and has taken every opportunity to call him stupid, then say he is not leading them?

Mr. “Post-partisan” “reached out” to whom? Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank - stop me when we get to a Republican…

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid all but demanded that John McCain get the Republicans in line - at least he tried.

  15. Studied History Says:

This all started in 1977 with the Community Reinvestment Act (make loans to people who can’t pay it back but whine loudest) signed by …. Jimmie Carter …. a Democrat.

In 1989, in the wake of the S&L debacle the CRA contributed to, President Bush (1) insisted Congress increase public oversight of the process. He required the agencies to issue CRA ratings publicly and written performance evaluations using facts and data to support the agencies’ conclusions. He also required a four-tiered CRA examination rating system with performance levels of “Outstanding,” “Satisfactory,” “Needs to Improve,” or “Substantial Noncompliance.

Then in 1995 …. Bill Clinton …. another Democrat …. convinced Congress to reset the rules substantially increasing the number and aggregate amount of loans to low- and moderate-income borrowers for home loans, some of which were “risky mortgages. The number of CRA mortgage loans increased by 39 percent between 1993 and 1998, while other loans increased by only 17 percent.

In 2005 when Senator McCain sponsored a bill to tighten the lending requirements and reduce the number of “risky” loans required to be let by banks he was soundly rejected by …. the Democrats.

  16. Right is Right Says:

Once again Pelosi opens mouth and inserts leg ! How can anyone be so consumed by thier hatred of the other party ,that they can not see the stupidity imminating from this woman ? All she knows, (like the rest of the rad left) is Bush this,GOP that. Why did the dems shoot dowm the requests for tighter regulations on FAN and FRED four years ago, and attack the regulator ? Is it not possible for the Dems to take cedit for thier part in this mess? What so stuck is the earmarks added to this bailout ,advantageous to the crooked, greedy left? NO WAY!!!!

  17. Katie Says:

LOL, Rachel Maddow has Boehner calling the WAAAAAAH-mbulance.

Mommy! Nancy Pelosi’s being MEAN TO US!

Please….if that’s determining their vote they better get some remedial preschool or something.

  18. Katie Says:

Foreclosures were up 79% in 2007 over 2006. These were not loans taken out under Carter or Clinton. Please people, make a little sense.

It was REPUBLICAN DEREGULATION that started the “subprime” loan fad. And Republicans were hooting about “how good the economy is” when they just loosened up the money to the point of ridiculous and had people using their houses like a big wallet with all these new loan “products” that didn’t even exist when Carter was president. Carter? Shit, those mortgages are already paid off!

  19. Bret Says:

Haa remmeber a few days ago when Katie was calling republicans stupid for wanting to pass this bill…..thank goodness it was the repbulicans who KILLED this thing….unlike 2/3rds of the freakin liberals that Katie loves.

Do you anything Katie? Seriously, you know all about cows, yeah right, democratic cries for immediate military actions against Iraq, yeah right….I mean , your a little slow, unless you get your little talking points from your Axelrod, seriously….maybe you should have sat through Organic or Bio Chem with me…you would have at least set the bottom of the curve for the rest of us.

Even your late messiah Bill Clinton admits this is the dims fault.

  20. Bret Says:

“If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.”

    John McCain 2006

    uhg….uh….uhhhhhh…did I mention hes black?

Barack “gimme some fannie money” Obama

  21. Right is Right Says:

Hey Katie, Did Raines get 1.1 mill. on a salary of 526 K ? Gorlick 779K bonus on a salary of 557K? in 2004? no wonder foreclosures were up 79% in 2007, with crooks like that involved . Even your hero MR. Hillary Clinton admitted it . And where was your MESSIAH ? second in line ,with his hand out!!!!!People like you deserve leaders like that.

  22. Katie Says:

Why MR Hillary Clinton is she somehow part of the rampant stupid homophobia on this forum? Or is that “hating and name-calling” like you accuse everybody with a brain of doing.

Hey stupids….here’s a clue….McCain AIN’T GOIN’ THERE, YOU KNOW WHY? He’s the one up to his ass in connections with this subprime mortgage crisis with his financial guru Phil Gramm, campaign manager Rick Davis and MANY of the other lobbyists that make up his campaign, as well as his own votes.

However I would like nothing better if SarahCuda goes to this site and used every insane post on here in the debate Thurs including: OBAMA WAS A KENYAN CITIZEN! HE USES TELEPROMPTERS! BARNEY FRANK IS A PANSY! OBAMA HAS VAGUE CONNECTIONS TO FREDDY AND FANNIE AND MCCAIN IS CLEAN AS NEW FALLEN SNOW! NANCY PELOSI SAID MEAN THINGS AND MADE THE GOP VOTE AGAINST THE BAILOUT!

Just anything on here, if she would please make the case for it, that would be better than SNL!

  23. rightisright Says:

one more time ,did raines get 1.1 mil,did gorlick get 779 k, and was obuma second in line ? btw mr . hillary is bill

  24. Right is Right Says:

Come on….. The GOP voted it down cause it did not contain any new regulations that would keep the same dims from doing the same thing again. Do really think anyone takes pelosi, and anything that comes out of her face seriously ? Katie,oh,Katie how about Raines-1.1 mil,Gorlicks779K Obumas second place check.oh and didnt Dodd get the biggest check ?

  25. Right is Right Says:

I bettcha Raines 1.1mill that Katie doesn”t even come close to answering the Raines,Gorlick,Obuma,Dodd question…… I know its probably painfull for ya, but come on ,give it a shot!

  26. Right is Right Says:

Where ya at Katie ? Brain fart ? In a corner ? Simple questions……yes or no will do !
